Did you know that historically SIPC has sponsored service projects during Summer Institute? It’s been a few years, but we’re bringing it back!

The 2019 SIPC is pleased to announce that we have decided to support Cleveland Kids’ Book Bank (KBB). Their mission is to foster improved literacy and a love of reading by providing free books to children in need. Studies show that being read to as a child and having books in the home are the two most important indicators of future academic success, but two-thirds of low-income families do not own a single children’s book. In its first three years of operation, KBB has distributed over 1.9 million books to 100,000+ kids in Cuyahoga County. Let’s help them change even more lives!

During the week of SI, SIPC will be running a book drive and collecting donations. KBB is looking for new or gently-used children’s books. Early childhood, easy readers, and books reflecting diversity are most needed.
